"For today only in the scope of Semarang City, and on November 20, we will work together alliances of Central Java workers to surround this governor office with hundreds of thousands of workers," said Secretary of DPW of the National Workers Union Confederation (KSPN) of Semarang City Karmanto.
The action of these workers is also to reject the use of Government Regulation (PP) No. 78 of 2015 on Wages, as a reference for determination of Regency / Kota Minimum Wage (UMK) Semarang. According to Karmanto, the determination of minimum wage increase based only on inflation and gross domestic product (GDP) is not in line with Law Number 13 Year 2003 on Manpower.
Furthermore, Karmanto added, in every determination of minimum wage increase, the government should not ignore the standard of decent living needs (KHL). "Since 2015, we have not taken action because the government is committed to us, the KHL survey results are accepted by the government, and by 2017 we have also given the survey results to the Mayor of Semarang, but that was not welcomed by the government," Karmanto said.
The proposed amount of MSE proposed by the Trade Union with Wage Council of the Elements of Labor amounted to Rp 2.754.865. This figure is obtained through a survey from January to September 2017, by considering KHL in Semarang City plus inflation prediction and economic growth.
In accordance with the agenda, MSE 2018 will be announced on 21 November 2017. Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) still waiting for the results of data collection on the formulation of wages in urban districts.
