The Catalan Parliament proclaims independence

            It was 15:30 this Friday, October 27 when the Catalan Parliament passed a motion proclaiming the independence of the region. The text was adopted with 70 votes in favor, 10 against, and 2 blank votes on 135 elected. Indeed, the members of the different parties who are against the independence of Catalonia had left the meeting in protest. The reaction of the Spanish Senate was imediate! Led by Mariano Rajoy, the Senate voted on the application of Article 155 of the Constitution (214 votes in favor, 47 against and one abstention) which allows the trusteeship of Catalonia. The head of the Spanish government should formalize this decision in the evening.
