The tension is rising a little more each day in Spain. This morning, the head of the Spanish government Mariano Rajoy has asked the Senate the right to dismiss the president of the region, Carles Puidgemont.
The Conservative was speaking in front of the Upper House in order to put Catalonia under the tutelage of Madrid. He wants to resort to Article 155, which allows the state to take control of an "autonomous community if it does not respect the obligations imposed on it by the Constitution or other laws".
For its part, Carles Puidgemont could pronounce in the coming hours the independence of Catalonia.
